the summer nights are what i miss the most
the rush of cold water on bare skin
and the sight of star filled skies overhead
bad jokes made better by good friends and
empty beer cans piled carelessly onshore
the sweet sensation of having nothing to do
when the most important things in the world
can be found around you all the time
in the way a bonfire dries wet bodies
and the smell of smoke in her hair
the sound a bottle makes when you pop the top
and the leaves blowing in the breeze
the summer nights are what i miss the most

The world we live in, our habitat, is changing and this is endangering the survival of our species. The exponential increase or carbon dioxide in our atmosphere is the cause. The reason for this is unsustainable consumption. Decisions need to be made today that will decide wether the our future losses are monetary or mortal. The danger is real, the consequences are being felt, people will die.

Issues like gay marriage, abortion, terrorism, and the rise of gas prices have become the main acts of a political puppet show that has gone on far too long. These issues should be dwarfed by an issue like the death of our planet, but this is not the case.

In this election and every election from this point on, sustainable consumption should be a bipartisan priority.

If you think global warming is a farce, I'll be glad to prove you wrong. Educate yourself, or I'll do it for you.
